An Outdoor Wedding That’s Simply Charming

When we envision a summer, outdoor wedding, Francesca and Alex’s big day is exactly what we dream of; gorgeous weather, great food, surrounded by family and friends, and stunning coral, chiffon bridesmaid dresses. With over 200 guests, they still wanted their day to feel personal. From Alex’s grandpa officiating the marriage, to Francesca’s father leading the band, it truly was a family affair that lived up to every expectation. We talked to Francesca to get all the charming details, from how she calmed her nerves before walking down the aisle to her valuable wedding advice that every bride should know.

Q. How did you know that Alex was "the one"?

A. He was the only guy I had ever met that made me feel comfortable in my own skin. I never felt the need to act a certain way to impress him. He liked me for who I was and that was quite special.

Q. Describe how you felt just moments before the wedding.

A. I started getting nervous about 15 minutes before the ceremony while waiting in the bridal room with my bridesmaids and flower girls. One of my flower girls asked if she could show us her dance to "Single Ladies" (the Chipmunks version). We all danced to Alvin and the Chipmunks before walking down the aisle and it made for a pretty great start to the night!

Q. What part of planning was the most challenging?

A. Like many girls, I had my big day planned out years in advance. I think the hardest part was finding the perfect venue. It was hard to find a place that I loved and also fit into my budget. That's why we chose to do our outdoor wedding on a Sunday. It allowed us to have the venue we wanted for a lower price tag.

Q. Why did you choose Kennedy Blue for your girls?

A. I attended a wedding the year before where all the girls wore Kennedy Blue bridesmaid dresses. They looked absolutely stunning! I knew right then and there that I wanted my girls in the designer as well. Kennedy Blue’s coral chiffon bridesmaid dresses were the exact color I was looking for and my girls were able to mix and match different styles to better fit their body type.

Q. What wedding advice would you give to other brides?

A. Take a moment to look around at everyone who is there celebrating with you. It's very special to see people you love from every stage of life all in one room just for you.
