Our Story

Kennedy Blue was founded to change the wedding industry: We offer high-quality designer dresses, a better shopping experience, and affordable prices.

Most of the wedding industry hasn’t changed in decades, leading to over-priced products and frustration for millions of couples. You may have experienced some of these frustrations yourself: Bridal shops not providing prices or reliable designer information, not allowing you to take photos until you buy, only carrying samples in one size and color, and suggesting sizes much larger than what you’re used to! What a way to boost self-esteem on the biggest day of your life, right?

Why is most of the wedding industry like this? It’s simple: Almost all designers and retailers are stuck in the past and inefficient. What’s worse, all of these inefficiencies and crazy policies end up driving dress prices way up! And if you happen to find a good deal, you’re more than likely going to sacrifice quality and service.

That’s where we come in. Kennedy Blue was created to provide an alternative.

We follow 2 basic philosophies:

  1. We only sell our products on our website and through trusted retailers who share our vision.
  2. All of our products are designed in-house with the help of customer feedback.

By following these 2 simple philosophies, we’re able to provide high-quality designer dresses at reasonable prices. We’ve also made the shopping experience easier with our At Home Try-On program. This service allows you to choose one or more bridesmaid dresses in your desired size and color, have them shipped to your home, try them on for style and fit, and order your favorites for the entire wedding party.

See our vision in action by visiting our exclusive retailer the Wedding Shoppe in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There, Kennedy Blue dresses are available in almost every size and color, allowing bridesmaids to toss out the tape measure and try their favorite styles on for themselves.

Since 2012, more than 30,000 bridesmaids have worn Kennedy Blue dresses, and that number continues to grow every year (see our real weddings for proof!). Although we’re proud of our growth, there are still many more wedding parties overpaying for a substandard experience and low-quality products. Our mission is nowhere near done!

Wedding shopping doesn’t need to be complicated. Customer Feedback + Creative Thinking = Great Dresses at Affordable Prices!

I want to hear from you! Whether it’s a question or feedback, I’ll answer you personally. Just email jim@kennedyblue.com.

Thank you!

Measurement Guide

Taking Your Measurements

For the most accurate measurements, do not measure over your clothing. Your measurements should be taken while wearing undergarments similar to the ones you will wear with your dress. The measuring tape shouldn't be pulled too tight or have too much slack, and should always be parallel with the floor.

**Wedding apparel is typically sized differently than retail clothing, so keep in mind that it's not uncommon to find yourself requiring alterations.

Bust size: Wrap the tape around your back and under your arms at the fullest part of your bust (not underneath the bust).

Waist size:  While standing up straight, bend at the waist to one side. Take the measurement where the natural crease happens in your side. This should be a few inches above your belly button.

Hip size: Standing with your feet together, wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and butt to get this measurement.

Choosing your correct size

Compare  these three measurements to the Kennedy Blue size chart above. It is very important that you order the largest size that corresponds to your measurements. For example, if your bust measures 40.5" (size 12), your waist measures 31" (size 10) and your hips measure 41.5" (size 8), we advise that you order a size 12, and get your dress altered down to custom fit your body. Ordering anything smaller than a size 12 would not fit in the bust area. Please note: Our bridal gown size chart is different than the bridesmaids sizing and is listed below.
