Fit and Sizing
When taking measurements for this dress, we recommend paying attention to bust and waist measurements.
For women over 5’10” we recommend choosing the Kennedy Blue style Mackenzie, which is the floor length version of Luella. Mackenzie can then be shortened and hemmed to your desired length.
The straps on Luella come long to accommodate for larger busts. These are easily altered if needed!
The model pictured is 5’9” and wearing 3” heels. She is wearing a size 4 dress.
Fabric and Care
Luella is made from a luxe chiffon fabric which is comfortable to wear and similar in quality to silk, but much easier to clean and care for. This dress can be dry cleaned, but can also be washed regularly at home on a delicate cycle. Best of all, the exceptional quality of the luxe chiffon means Luella will hold up over multiple washes so you can make the most of your dress.
I understand that it can take a while to fill an order if the dress has to be made. I also understand that it would be hard to have a stock of dresses in certain sizes readily available for quick order fullfillment. But, to have to wait for over four months for a dress that is so big that it's practically falling off after following your sizing guides is a little much. Either fill the orders within a reasonable timeframe, or take exact measurements from your customers and custom make the dress; take four months for that. That would be reasonable.
I absolutely loves the pockets. I have a weird body type so my bust was swimming in this dress, but with the right alterations it was a perfect fit! I should have went to a location to try on the dress before purchasing it.
It has pockets and reminds me of a ballerina.
Cute dress and nice color!
Taking Your Measurements
For the most accurate measurements, do not measure over your clothing. Your measurements should be taken while wearing undergarments similar to the ones you will wear with your dress. The measuring tape shouldn't be pulled too tight or have too much slack, and should always be parallel with the floor.
**Wedding apparel is typically sized differently than retail clothing, so keep in mind that it's not uncommon to find yourself requiring alterations.
Bust size: Wrap the tape around your back and under your arms at the fullest part of your bust (not underneath the bust).
Waist size: While standing up straight, bend at the waist to one side. Take the measurement where the natural crease happens in your side. This should be a few inches above your belly button.
Hip size: Standing with your feet together, wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and butt to get this measurement.
Choosing your correct size
Compare these three measurements to the Kennedy Blue size chart above. It is very important that you order the largest size that corresponds to your measurements. For example, if your bust measures 40.5" (size 12), your waist measures 31" (size 10) and your hips measure 41.5" (size 8), we advise that you order a size 12, and get your dress altered down to custom fit your body. Ordering anything smaller than a size 12 would not fit in the bust area. Please note: Our bridal gown size chart is different than the bridesmaids sizing and is listed below.
